Ethical practices have continued to be an issue in our lives today. Private sectors and large organization have turned their attention to their junior employees and executive staff. Schools and university have commenced dictating that ethics courses are a requirement to every student. Government has also dictated that honesty and fairness should be virtues that should be possessed by every government official. Ethics in organization could be broadly looked at under two categories or approaches that hold different views of as well as ethical principles which address ethical issues in an organization.
That is the individualistic approach and the communal approach. In the individualistic approach, ethics in an organization ensures or requires that moral behavior and responsibility is upon each and every one in an organization individually (Cragg, 1994). Any attempts to deal with change of moral behavior should be aimed or directed at an individual. However moral responsibility of ethics in an organization could also be understood as the communal approach which views individuals in an organization as people belonging to communities that are charged with partial responsibility towards their members. So treatment of members in isolation does not exist here.
Consequently, Proper and comprehensive understanding of ways as well as techniques of solving ethical problems in an organizations calls for consideration of both approaches. Both approaches prescribe different ways of dealing with issues pertaining to moral behavior. Ethical concerns within an organization are more often than not addressed by an individualistic approach. The individualistic approach ensures and, takes cares of the well being of the individual. In other words, it ensures that individual rights are held paramount and not violated. Such rights include; freedom of expression as well as the right to privacy among others. However, the communal approach places a lot of emphases on the common good members in an organization. It does this by embracing policies and actions that ensure social justice prevails.
In the organizations that I have worked for, there has been the use of both approaches in handling ethical issues and problems in organizations. This more often than not, ensures a better understanding of problems related to an organization more so to the rest of the workers. There exists, , are times, however, situations when the willingness to take care of both the well being of an individual as well as that of the community poses a dilemma. In such a situation, it is necessary to make a choice between the moral claims that are involved. Actions related to affirmative programs, for instance, result in problems over justice deserved by the individual which conflicts with issues related to social justice. When minorities or women are favored in treatment over the majority or males, it implies that there exists an inequality among individual and that is unjust (Johnson, 2007).
Similarly, it is important to consider the accomplishments made by the programs that are in place in a given organization. This is all done in an attempt to obtain and maintain a society that is more just as far as ethics in organizations are concerned. Doing away with discriminatory treatment programs is a sure way of bringing social injustices existing within an organization to an end and instead obtain an unjust society. In such a situation it is argued that a communal approach, given that it places a lot of emphasis on common well being of individuals in an organization, should be given priority over that of individual approach.

When such dilemmas relating to ethics in an organization, certain important values come in handy and they help in selecting policies of organization as well as actions which ensures the implementation of such policies. The integration of ethics into the organizational strategy involves the consideration of three key factors namely; what the organization stands for, the purpose for which the organization was constituted and the values that the organization upholds. An honest person will be open and will disclose or relevant information that is required of him. Fairness is dealing with others without discrimination and also not taking advantage from information. Organization, whether private or public must consider and address the behavior of their employees. Chief management and executives are responsible for ethical behavior of the employees in the organization. Management of any organization should promote ethical practices by adopting code of conduct that will act as a guideline on how employees will relate with each other and how they will perform their work. Creation of policy is just a beginning of ethical environment.
This policy should be enforced without any discrimination. Regular ethics training should be provided to all employees from time to time. Training should mostly be concerned with familiarity with new standards. Ethics training main use is to educate and sensitize the employees about the firms laid down policies and procedures, rules and regulation that guide the firm and the social standards. Content and amount of the training given to the employee will enhance their perception of ethics. It has been seen that organization that promote ethical business practices would also avoid those activity that would create bad image of the company. The values that guide an individual and a company are important to various stakeholders: society, potential employees, shareholders and potential investors. An accurate sampling should be carried out to as many entities as possible. Being the manger of the company, I would let it be known that no unethical behavior will be tolerated. Ethic and awareness program would be developed for all employees and every employee should participate. Established procedure would be followed to the later to sanction and reprimand employees who in any way violate ethical guidelines and procedures. This would help the manager in determining the nature of ethical problems and find possible solutions that can be applied. Avenues for dialogue in the department would be opened after this survey. Behavioral standard and code of conduct for all employees should be developed. Also as a manger disciplinary measure for behavior that is inappropriate should be consistent and undiscriminating to all employees. This would help in providing a standard credibility and intensify acceptability.
Addressing the ever increasing challenges of ethics in organization and, as well as the future expectation is part of confronting the organizational problems. Of great importance is that organizations must be able to provide a foundation for bringing up future leaders of organizations. This is done to ensure the establishment of network organizations, ethics as well as the society (Maheshwari, 2004). Organizational ethics fraternity need to work more closely with all of their members as well as major stakeholders so as to renew efforts aimed at integrating moral ethics and occupational ethics in their entire widely distributed operations.

Though different organizations are trying to ensure morality in their firms, some unethical behavior persists. Some behaviors are forced by organization by the environment which the firm is situated in and the laws that exist(Spencer, 2000). For example bribery to get business deals, this may be acceptable in other countries while unacceptable in others.
Thus effectiveness of ethical issue need an organization to make sure that their managers and employees are conversant in dealing with ethical and moral issues. Hence unethical issue that occurs should first be understood and why they do occur to effectively fight them. In the end any organization will be defined by ethics and values that it posses. Every organization must set its standards and expectation to ensure that employees conduct is that of excellence. The executives, management staff and key employee must be at the forefront in showing by example to make sure that employees will not feel as the codes are being implicated on them.
