Scientific research articles serve a very important purpose – they are the main means of communication between scientists. These articles are published in academic journals and reflect the results of the scientific research conducted by the author. Despite the fact that they give an insight into a bigger scientific paper, scientific articles is an autonomous type of academic writing with its special requirements.

In this article, you’ll learn how to write a scientific research paper in a form of an article

There should be no convergence of the research paper title and one of a scientific paper. In fact, articles often have a narrower and less “scientific” title. Since the article will be published for general audience, you should make sure that the first thing they see, aka the title, is clear enough for everyone to understand. You’re also allowed to use stylistic methods and attract attention with a play of words or rhetoric question in the title.

You’ll often find scientific articles with more than one author. While you might have done most of the work yourself, there can still be other people who contributed to the research. In most cases, they are the supervisor and mentors. However, before you list someone else’s name as a second author, get their permission to do so.

Before the actual article begins, it’s usually preceded by a scientific paper outline, also known as an abstract. The main role of the abstract is to introduce the reader to what will be disclosed in the article. It also has a very practical application for people who read a lot of scientific literature. When encountered with a long article, they will first read the abstract to decide whether the rest is what they are looking for. While the article will follow the scientific style of writing, the abstract should be a bit less formal to provide the readers with easy understanding of the matter.

As far as the word count goes, the abstract should be as concise as possible – not more than 250 words. In it, you should cover the purpose and methods of the research as well as its results. It’s often quite hard to cram an extensive research into a short summary of 250 words. One trick we recommend is to write it first without paying attention to the number of words. Then try to cut down unnecessary words step by step until you reach the desired result.

Introduction should be at least one and maximum four paragraphs long and explain your motivation for writing the paper. There must be specific reasons why you’ve chosen that topic, and they should be described in the introduction. Finish it with a very concrete question that you’ll attempt to answer in the article.

This is the most important part where you present what you’ve achieved. There is no need to write about all your findings, and you probably won’t have enough space to do so anyway. Just highlight the most important ones that you think deserve recognition.

Then try to analyze them. Have the results answered the main question from the introduction? Do you find them surprising or were they predictable? How can you apply them for future research?

If you decide to use graphs of tables, make sure each of them has a name. Simple “results” is a no go. Be specific with the title of each table and try to make the graph itself as clear as possible. However, if you simply want to use it to make your paper appear more “scientific”, we recommend abandoning this endeavor altogether and describing your findings with words.

This paragraph is optional and you can omit it. However, if you feel like there were people who really helped you with the research, it’s a nice gesture to thank them for their support in the acknowledgement part of the article.

Now you see that writing a scientific article is not as difficult as it might have seemed. There is no need to search for a research paper writing service or a research papers for sale while you can easily tackle this assignment by your own.
