The Youth Essay Example

The Status of the Youth Free Essay Example

The youth are characteristically naive in nature. Many a times, the youths and their actions can be as spontaneous and highly governed by their strong desires rather than reason. They are explicit in the display of their naivety. They are prone to do what they desire and this might range from the bodily desires to desires of their minds (Cooper, 1932).It is in this context that it is in order to posit a thesis statement that states: the youth in the past have faced with similar challenges only that they are different in nature from the contemporary youth since their naivety has never changed.

Sexual desire is the prime desire that they let control them. In most cases they lack self control and incline towards this desire as they seek gratification thinking that it is made for that purpose but in the real sense they lack the meaning for its purpose. Furthermore, their desire for sex is propagated by their wavering and changing desires. Their desires are passionate but are relinquished after some time. This is blamed on their desires being devoted to the attainment or satisfaction of their bodily desires instead of been profound and can be compared to cravings of ailing people.

Their naivety is visible from their passions too. Passions in positive situations are a virtue but when it comes to the youth’s anger, nothing restrains them as they allow it to take over their sense of reason aptly. Consequently, their anger passions get the better of them. This makes them like to be respected since respect is earned and not demanded. In addition, they can not put up with a slight as a result of their like for honor. Eventually, they become resentful if they experience minimal unfair treatment. Lack of the real understanding of money makes them lead a carefree life as they turn their priority to love, honor and victory. Could this not be termed as a misplaced priority? (Cooper, 1932)

Talking about their status, Aristotle says that the youth have lofty aspirations since they have not been humbled by life nor they have not experienced the force of circumstances. Life to them is simple as they are given everything they wish for by their parents and so they don’t experience any struggles or responsibilities. Their high mindedness lures them to greater things and this is a characteristic of people who are hopeful and fancy honor to appropriateness. Their life is characterized by good inclination and not planning which aims at virtue and expedient towards the honorable. The more they are quick to hope makes them more vulnerable to deception. This is culminated by the fact that they think of no evil which is coupled by their lack of experience of any vice as they believe in human goodness. They are trustful as they have not been deceived and their natural glow of heat is a result of their sanguinity. The anticipation they live with can be attributed to the fact that they have never come across failure. Thus they live in a constant hope for the future which to them is deemed long compared to the short past. That is totally disagreeable as we learn from our past mistakes which tend to shape the future we are headed to.

Some people even claim that the youth’s naivety can be seen through judgment. The youth’s judgment is significantly considered to be lacking. It is occasionally based on the advantage to be gained rather than what is generally or morally right. As if that is not enough, they carry everything too far or in moderation as they hate to excess at the same time love to excess. This is attributed to their self deception that makes them to be positive in everything and as humans, we realize that even though it is good to be optimistic but of much importance is the capability to tell between situations or things that are positive and those that are negative. Besides, irrational judgment is not tolerated by many as people prefer judgments based on thoughtfulness and understanding.

An important characteristic of the youth is their shyness. It is a resultant of the non-established independent normalcy of good conduct in youths. They possess the characteristics of the surroundings in which they were raised and acculturated with but lack standards of handling new situations and environments which appear strange to them. This indeed, promotes the fondness among the group they associate with and those that they share private or close information with caused by their great admiration for friendship. They tend to seek safety in numbers which prove the lack of self trust and dependence (Cooper, 1932).

Some researchers also claim the naivety is further evident when a vice is committed by a youth to a person or people. For instance, it is argued that when the youths injure a person, the injuries in many occasions are caused more by irresponsibility as compared to malice. Their actions are governed by emotions and recklessness as they hardly stop and think about the consequences of their actions. A person’s afflictions can easily move the youth’s to tears as they fail to understand why the person deserves to suffer (Cooper, 1932).

In conclusion it is correct to say that the thesis statement which states the youth in the past have faced with similar challenges only that they are different in nature from the contemporary youth since their naivety has never changed is correct. Therefore, the youth need to be treated with deep understanding and tolerance. Most of their actions are not as a result of malice but usually motivated but their facetious nature. Their skewed judgment should be excused at times and their aspirations should be guided .Lastly, their cowed rudeness needs to be contained by rules for checking of their behavior at all times.
