Chicago Cubs Player Compensation
Due to many years of not winning the World Series the new ownership group of my cubs stink needs a ten year strategy on player packages that maximize intrinsic motivation. This essay gives specific recommendations based on STD and IM theories on the contract length, contract type and payment contingencies designed to maximize player’s delivery.
On the type of contract, salaries and bonuses will improve the team performance. With this the players will not be forced to act in any direction of either wining or loosing. When they loss they will get only salary and when they win they get both salary and bonus, leading to competence in the team as they will have the capacity and ability to influence the results by themselves.
The payment contingency should be on the basis of compensation contingent on a combination of individual and team performance. This helps to raise the competence at both the individual level and as the team. This will make the players feel connected with others as and have satisfactory and supportive social relationship (Markland & Ryan, 2005). Because the effort at individual and at a team level will be shared hence every player feel related to another.
In conclusion as far as extrusive conditions can be facilitated to the extend, competence, autonomy and relatedness the team will be unified and develop the personal resources for winning.
