Sheehys workplace case study clearly brings out what often happens in any working environment especially in the case of fellow employees and coworkers, here, workers tend to only concentrate on delegated duties and are not concerned with their environment .this workers are unable to realize a truckers body in a trailer until the body starts smelling across their place of work. This clearly shows irresponsibility and negligence on the workers who are only concerned with their daily chores and does not care at all on other chores at the work place. Most often such people tend to concentrate on technological jobs compared to manual work that are common in daily lives.
In the above case study where most of the employees are students on summer holiday, the employees despise manual work delegated to them on site instead tend to like duties that are less tiresome and mostly done under sitting and relaxed positions otherwise terming such jobs as modern. This is contrary with most cases where they are required to hassle on manual works available in order to meet their daily needs in the society. In the case above, the trait of contempt to customers is clearly brought out with the reference of the employees’ reaction towards its customers. It is ironical that instead of coworkers being proud of getting more customers in their firm, they are showing a negative attitude that indicates dissatisfaction which is the reverse of the firm’s expectations towards its employees. In our daily business transactions, it is the role of the employees to work hard in attaining customer satisfaction through delivering of quality goods and service at all times. This is contrary with the case where the coworkers have no value attached to this principle as they have no value for the provision of quality to its loyal customers. They have formed it a routine as they only focus on meeting their daily objection with no urge of going a step further in adding value to their services towards the consumers. There is a total indifference towards the quality and service in most firms across the business sector. The workers of many firms across the sector portray unrealistic expectations towards their firms and companies. They are always expecting their employers to meet all their needs without putting in mind the current economical situation across the globe.
The fashionable attitude that has overtime emerged across the sector is the Get-away-you-can that indicates the lack of ownership among the employees in the firms. Most of the personnel’s are mainly focused at doing everything that benefits them directly and may even by-pass the firm’s policies for their direct benefit. This is evident in the case study of Sheehy as the coworkers are not ready to work hard in their respective fields. They prefer working fewer hours as they despise working for long hours which is beneficial to the firm. They also like taking shortcuts in the course of undertaking on duties as their major focus as they are always inventing ways which involves less effort for their duties. Duties are dedicated to other coworkers by those who are lazy and fear working but prefer having a gain that they generally do not deserve by using others in the firm as in the above scenario. Students have a negative view towards the duties being dedicated to them at work place during their summer holiday as they are not willing to attach any value in it at all. They are sure of getting good technological opportunities after completing their studies.

Lack of creativity and innovation among employees and students- This is a trait that encourages nurturing of new ideas and building on the already existing ideas in a country. The youths in America (students) who are working in Sheehy’ firm are working against the ideas of making proper use of opportunities available and initiating new ideas for its prosperity. Instead of improving the services at the firm, they despise the duties given to them and have no total focus on their jobs at all. This is a sample of the behavioral overview of the modern generation that boosts of creativity and innovation which forms the backbone of America’s economy development which relies much on business entities.
Business Instability in the country’s economy- Specialization in any given career by an employee is a major boost to an economy across the organizational market in a firm. In the American economy, it is clearly shown that most of its employees are unsatisfied with their current careers and are either not or partially willing to per-take on it. In the case of Sheehy, the works have no motivation of the job opportunity and seems dissatisfied with it. They are unsettled a sign of unwillingness and lack of appreciation on their jobs which limits the growth of the firm’s activities. They are readily looking for greener pastures of which most of them prefer jobs that are less energy involvement, less time consuming and technological involvement. The scenario above threatens the stability of America’s business organizational sectors that relays much on the youth for its production process.
Low Productivity in the economy- The future of America relies much on the level of production that entails the work rate of its employees across various firms who forms the bulk of its economy. The low work rates and laziness portrait by the employees at Sheehy’s workplace clearly rings out an indication of what occurs across America at large. As opposed to the expectations of the students to carry the economy of America high in completion of their studies through the acquired knowledge and skills, this is contrary as they are working against it in the above case. They are expected to per-take on both manual and white collar duties which determines the level of productivity of a country over a given period. They tends to prefer acquiring technological opportunities that are less time and energy consuming thus limiting the growth rate of the economy.

The above statement is unrealistic as in a capitalists society, most of the things are undertaken in a working environment tends to favor the employees side in most cases. Sheehy’s case indicates the true image where instead of employees being satisfied with increased demand of customers, they instead develop an unenthusiastic attitude towards them (customer contempt). The students who are on their summer holiday are unable to fully carry out their respective duties at the firm with reasons that portrays them more superior with the notion of aiming at getting high technological jobs after completing their studies. Generally, the employees tend to prefer acquiring technological jobs that require less effort compared to the manual tasks at the firm. It is the expectation of every employee at a firm to work hand in hand to produce high quality goods and services in order to fully satisfy the customers’ needs. This is contrary in the case as the employee lack the initiative of working towards the satisfaction of their loyal customers. They only mind their daily allocated chores of which they necessarily do not do it to perfection. This brings out clearly the idea of most employees working in direct link to their own benefit in a capitalist society.
Explain the reasoning behind employee theft?
Employee theft is a common happening in most business environments across the world. The employee may mainly turn to theft due to low salaries being offered by the employer at the firm where he/she takes it as an appreciation for the service/hard work offered to the employer. Others may steal due to their nature of dishonesty engages in any activity that will aid him/her in getting more in relation to the salary. Some employees may also opt to stealing as a way of punishing the employer in regard to an encountered conflict with the employer at the workplace. Financial background of personnel is another factor that persuades an employee in engaging in unethical acts that are against the firm’s rules in order to benefit more in the process of meeting his/her financial desires. In some firms it is normally as a result of lack or scarcity of proper control over its inventories that illuminates the desire to steal by the employee working in the department involved. The capitalist’s society reflects individual selfish intention to always gain directly from any endeavors on taking part in. People always ask the question, “If so, what is there in for me?” Our culture has not over time put into consideration the values and morals that fully harmonize employee diversification in our society making in difficult at time in maintaining a mutual relationship. It has created notion of preferring white collar jobs and technological opportunities being more useful compared to the initial manual duties which forms the initial backbone of every nation. It has also instilled sense of unrealistic expectations and lack of job sensitivity in most of the employees that has derailed the development process in most firms. The nature of justice advocates for extreme consideration of the extent of liberty/ freedom and how decisions should be made with emphasis being put on equality which can only be contravened in cases that would favor the weaker of the parties in the society. It highlights the term liberty in recognition of personal and diverse need of parties in a system but at the same time for the sake of peaceful co-existence and mutual understanding, they get to compromise and adhere to certain ground rules and guidelines governing the society.
The Utilitarianism holds that the majority of total/ average good of all involved people in a situation needs to be achieved in any given circumstance. It means that if punishment is to be administered, then it cannot fit this purpose because it makes one or more involved individuals suffer out of a situation. The Utilitarian’s however acknowledge that the imbalance somehow corrects itself in the long run thus making punishment necessary as it is beneficial if given priority. It also has the capability of converting offenders in better people in the society. The libertarian approach states that the free markets are essential and the process of redistributing taxes is an idea of going against the people’s property rights. Libertarians understand the justice just as merely a past affair that was practiced a long time and should not be used in business while dealing with the people’s property. John Rawls theory introduces a veil of ignorance as a component people employ in building a society. The veil represents induced bias and other forms of segregations that ultimately sway the way people approach justice and can be important in setting up of later date arrangements in addressing any issues of controversial nature occurring in the society. Rawls envisioned a society where people looked at the justice phenomenon from an innocent and pure view with no pre set mindsets. He maintains that the existence of inequality in our societies will be justified by an increment in benefits to all the people. He also proposes for the priority advancement to the least advantaged in the society in relation to the need theory that calls for mutual support.
